OBAP 49 delivered. Three energizing days in Tacoma filled with new connections, career conversations, and a full house for our panel on careers beyond the flight deck. We left inspired and already planning how to build on the momentum.
We joined the Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals at the Greater Tacoma Convention Center in Tacoma, Washington from August 6 to 8, 2025.

What we did:
• GoJet Karaoke brought everyone together for music, laughs, and networking on August 6 from 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM in the Ruston Room.
• Hosted our session, Beyond the Flight Deck: Hidden Careers in Aviation, on August 7 from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM in Ballroom A&B, spotlighting real pathways across the industry.
• Spent time on the expo floor meeting pilots, A&Ps, and operations pros, sharing info on United-affiliated pathways and open roles across GoJet.
Our panelists:
Huge thanks to the leaders who shared their experience and insight: Rick Leach, President & CEO, GoJet Airlines; Marci Veronie, SVP Sales and Marketing, Avemco; Seturah Foxx, SHRM-SCP, Head of Culture and Engagement, Airbus; Sarah Kemig, Senior Culture and Belonging Partner / BRG Program Strategist, Alaska Airlines; Kyle Jaracz, Education Director, Academy of Model Aeronautics; and James Moody Jr., Project and Program Manager, Safran.
Why it matters:
OBAP’s community-first energy makes space for honest conversations about access, mentorship, and upward mobility. Together we highlighted roles on and off the flight deck and offered clear next steps for anyone ready to grow in aviation.
What’s next:
If we met at OBAP and you want to keep the conversation going, connect with our recruiting team and explore current openings. We’ll also share upcoming campus and community events on our site, so keep an eye out.
